McCarthy & Company’s objective is to provide high quality, discrete, career management assistance to organizations and individuals relating to executive and management level outplacement, executive coaching, downsizing, re-engineering, retirement, severance and career changes.

McCarthy & Company Meeting

McCarthy & Company specializes in providing executive coaching and outplacement support for executives in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our program consists of three key pieces designed to assist the executive client in the completion of a successful job search. The McCarthy & Company model provides the client with Executive Coaching (one on one); assistance in the development of a Life Work Plan®; and participation in over three Executive Job Network Groups. All of these components are equally important and directly linked to one another.

The Executive Coaching component will help tie together the Life Work Plan® and the search leverage gained through participation in the three Executive Network Groups. Communications skills will be polished so that interviewing and presentation skills enable the client to be focused and on-target. Consultative executive coaching (one on one) will be provided.

The Life Work Plan® will provide an opportunity to have a search plan including search strategy, tactics and a management plan for the entire search process, from assessment to resume development to interviewing to offer/negotiations. Further, a “Jump Start” strategy will enable the client to quickly engage in the job search process. This plan adds even greater importance and value for continued career management and for future transitions.

Participation in all of our Executive Job Network Groups will allow the opportunity to develop a formidable personal network. The client will meet; develop a rapport; bond; and gain assistance from CEOs, Managing Directors, Corporate and Not for Profit executives, Retained Search Consultants and other members of the support group who are committed to helping the client. The culture of our Network Groups is “what goes around, comes around,” as well as an environment of “we, us and they,” rather than “I or me.”

Networking Venues for Clients

McCarthy & Company hosts three distinct and formidable network groups in the Mid- Atlantic region. They are offered exclusively to all McCarthy & Company clients. These networking activities are designed to provide our clients the opportunity for leveraging their search efforts and gaining access to key contacts, job opportunities, and market intelligence. The added value of connectivity or linkage can give the client a winning edge in a very competitive job market, especially when they have been thoroughly prepared in the process. An example of the effectiveness of our network groups was illustrated recently when one third of a group's job seekers were placed in one month. At the same time, five new job seekers joined the group from upstate New York; Florida; Philadelphia; Richmond; and Washington DC.

McCarthy & Company’s Corporate Network:

The Corporate Network is organized to provide assistance to senior private sector executives in their job search; AND to provide a forum for all participants in sharing marketing intelligence, professional counsel, and business development opportunities. Its purpose is to support the successful position change of top executives who are now, or anticipate, undergoing the search process. Meetings are held monthly in a breakfast venue at the City Club in Washington, DC.

McCarthy & Company’s Trade Association Executive Network:

The Trade Association Executive Network is organized to provide assistance to senior trade association executives in their job search; AND to provide a forum for all participants in sharing marketing intelligence, professional counsel, and business development opportunities. Its purpose is to support the successful position change of top executives who are now, or anticipate, undergoing the search process. Meetings are held monthly in a breakfast venue at the City Club in Washington, DC.

McCarthy & Company’s Executive Network:

The Executive Network is organized to provide assistance to senior executives in their job search; AND to provide a forum for all participants in sharing marketing intelligence, professional counsel, and business development opportunities. Its purpose is to support the successful position change of top executives who are now, or anticipate, undergoing the search process. Meetings are held monthly in a breakfast venue at the Tower Club in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

The network group attendees are organized into three categories:

  • The CEO Component consists of prominent and successful leaders such as Presidents, CEO’s, Executive Directors, Managing Partners, etc. of private sector organizations and Not For Profits, including “alumni/ae”, who graciously offer support to this effort and attend when able.
  • The Support Component is a valuable resource volunteer group consisting of Senior, Corporate, and Not For Profit Executives, Search Consultants and other professionals who frequently attend, and who bring valuable job market intelligence “to the table.” This group also includes successful former position seekers who are now “alumni/ae.”
  • The Executive Placement Component consists of our job seekers/clients.

Executive coaching is a very personal business relationship between two professionals. This relationship must be based upon integrity and trust.
